Bahamas 2009
Wow, just passed the last test for being a
qualified skipper with just 400nm of
experience. Now, the next step had to be
living our dream. Lots of studies and
careful search about a safe sailing area
brought us to the amazing Bahamas!
Whitsundays, Australia 2010
This time tides more wind and a vessel
which heels over - great fun and jumping
whales. No.2 was a great success and
another step forward on the everlasting
learning curve.
Our love for water is unsatisfied. We spend 10y ears or so diving the planet (see diving). Later we
discovered the unbelievable freedom of sailing. The spirit and exclusivity of the nature is unbeaten -
and comes next to a safari in Africa (see safaris). Soon we became addicted ... and grew older.
Children were born (2013 and 2015) which seemed to limit our opportunities to sail (and to travel).
But far fetched. We are still doing it - with fewer long passages but still: we are blessed and gifted to
be on a boat at least sometimes.
West Indies 2011
ok, we got the first experiences at the
Bahamas, we got tides in Australia, now
we need open ocean and trade winds to
go for the next step ahead. In one word:
don’t be shy, just do it and enjoy a fab
sailing trip...!
West Indies 2012
it was so good, we needed to to it again.
well, we had lot’s of wind, 3m swell and
did it up to Anguilla this time. Quite a
sportive event with a 439 vessel this time.
Can life be any better? Not many photos
here but a small movie to let you grap the
flavour.
Seychelles 2012
Some nice little sailing in the land of they
classy IKEA-Beach-Photos. Easy sailing,
great beaches - a truly relaxing
atmosphere
Mallorca 2013
First time in the mediterainien waters and
for the first time ... with our offspring. Carl
born May 22nd as a to be sailor had to
give it a try in early August. Would we be
able to do both: sailing and playing our
new role: being parents???
Gulf of Naples, Italy 2013
The second journey with little Carl. More
demanding I became over time and less
willing to sleep. Which is good! But more
challenging to sail in changing conditions -
thunderstorms included.
West Indies 2014
Paternity Leave - 1 month of freedom and
joy - sailing in the Caribbean. But the job
did call us home and we ended up sailing
a bit around Antigua only. Still very
enjoyable and with quite something we
learned - again!
Turkey, 2014
3 Weeks sailing with Carl (plus Jan’s
mum)... we did chose Turkey’s Fetihye as
a starting point despite the brutal heat. We
knew there were only gentle winds and as
such little healing for our brave grinder.
Very enjoyable it was...
West Indies 2015
First attempt to do the Caribbean with 2
Kids... 9mths and 2,5years of age.
Guadeloupe - St. Lucia and back to
Martinique. Its not quite the most chilling
holiday but by far better than to stay on
land - and we had some amazing sailing!
Anguilla-St Martin-St Barth 2016
Caribbean the fifth. This time with an
awfull BALI 4.5 cat. We sailed small
distances only in order not to bore the kids
too much. The flip side is we checked out
all meaningful anchorages of the 3 islands
and discovered several beautiful spots
which we didn’t know before...
