A lot of this journey is through the hilly area which means forest and thicket and little chances to see mammals. Once there, the area is much more open and all the main animals appear except the cheetah. The latter one needs more open plains which are not provided. Lions and Lepards are around but might well hide as the bushland offers plenty of hide-aways. We were there in the wet season which means it’s a lot greener than one might think of and there are lot of opportunities for animals to get there water without showing up in the main waterholes. Having said this: Insects beyond imagination. All sizes, all colours and all after light in the night and some after blood too… esp. the messi TsTs-Flies. Their bits last much longer than mosquito bites and are much more itchy. They react much less to repellent. Messy! Now, the rooms are open on one side, a metal-fence kind of security-system prevent the big guys of sharing your sleep with you but all others with more then 2-4 legs comes in uncontrolled. The mosquito net is bullet prove but brushing the teeth in the evening – quite nice with all the attacks from all angles at the same time. One can even hear them closing up to you given their size. And lets not talk about how to get out of the bed when it is dark… Away from this its clearly lovely… one may hear the sounds of the nights, fresh air and nicely decorated room. Even the hot-tub is nice and the water there is really hot… one just need to clear the basin from the insects which cant step out…. Food is very nice, atmosphere at the dinner table is great and the entire area looks pretty. The manager Zilla is a good laugh and the staff is charming. Well done and well kept… keep it up. click here: BACK to Zambia and South-Africa Main Page
